The futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all remain up in the air, with only months left on their Liverpool deals.
Jamie Carragher claimed Liverpool needs Van Dijk, meanwhile, Salah’s record-breaking form suggests he is a must-keep for the Reds.
Despite all this, Shay Given believes that the ongoing contract situation may have actually benefitted Arne Slot’s side this season.

Shay Given says contract situation has ‘played into Arne Slot’s hands’
Reds supporters will no doubt be getting sick and tired of hearing the word ‘contract’, but Given believes they should have a more positive outlook on it.
Speaking after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle, the former goalkeeper told the Premier League that the ongoing situation has actually improved Liverpool’s performances this season.
“Three of their main players – Trent, Van Dijk and Mo Salah and obviously their contract situation. I think that has actually played into Arne Slot’s hands aswell because they are either playing for a new contract at Liverpool or they are playing for their next contract at another club.
“Every single week they are playing to their maximum and to their best. I think that’s helped them and galvanised them, it’s brought them together,” said Given.
The ex-Newcastle keeper then added: “Those three key players, they might be leaving in the summer, all of them could leave the building perhaps but they have given their maximum to the club. Imagine leaving with three trophies as well, it would be a fantastic finish.”
What is the latest on Liverpool’s contract talks?
With only three months of the season left to go, contract talk will soon be reaching fever pitch at Anfield.
Regarding the latest on that front, nothing concrete has come out of Melwood in the past few weeks but sports lawyer Daniel Geey recently claimed that Salah is the most likely to leave Liverpool.
